Boo, I miss the snow!

Does anyone want to look after Fiona Bruce over Christmas? She's fine to be left alone for a few days with lots of food, and is very cute, begs for treats and isn't bitey. We'll be away for less than 2 weeks. Anyone...anyone?

Anyone want a bike before it goes on freecycle or something? Standard men's mountain bike, dark green mostly, 18 speed. Needs the gears and brakes fiddled with/serviced but it works enough to be cycled away at least.

I've just come back from the vets having had Indy put to sleep. Her kidneys failed fast and she was no longer eating and had become very frail. I'm utterly heartbroken. For half my life she has been the most loyal and intelligent friend I could have wished for.

Just a wee update (no pun intended!):

Indy has come home a day early, her blood test was really good and she was barking herself hoarse at the vet. I'm sure they loved her :P They did say she was perfectly happy and quiet if she had company, but started again whenever they left the room. Oh and she pulled out 2 IVs so I think she's feeling okay! My girl certainly has spirit

She's on medication for now and special food, and she gets another blood test on Thursday so hopefully that will be good news.

I am very happy to have her home :)

Fuckity fuck.

I had Indy at the vets today for some tests and her kidneys aren't functioning very well. Her phosphorus levels aren't high, which apparently means it's not too bad, but still, meh. She's going in tomorrow for 48 hours of IV fluids to help clear out built up toxins, which means staying at the vet, The thing is she's as lively as ever so I think she's going to be very bored sat in a kennel for that long. I know 14 is old but I'm so not ready for her to go anywhere yet :(

Hello friends list! Many of you lot are talented and artistic and such - I was wondering if someone could do me a couple of simple line drawings that I could put on posters advertising my business? Ideally something I could have in electronic format, though I do have a scanner if needs be :) I'm just looking for cartoony-type sketches of a dog on a lead, a cat with a saucer of milk/bowl of food, and maybe a bunny and a hamster sat looking cute? I'm printing in black and white on coloured card, so it just needs to be something simple.

So, I'm looking to create a website to advertise myself for dog walking. I've searched for 'free website' and come up with lots of options, so I was wondering if any of you have a site you'd recommend? Something fairly user-friendly as I've never done this before.

Is anyone about for most of Christmas and would like to look after two wee hamsters? They're tame, friendly and quiet and don't need much more than to be fed and checked up on. They'll be fine for a couple of days with plenty of food, but I don't want to leave them for a whole week.

Argh, fish tank is leaking! Fish now in bucket while I wait for pet shop to open :o(

Also, is anyone available Saturday/Sunday 20/21 and could dog sit? Or could you walk/feed/empty one of those days or anything and I could have tag-teams? I would love you lots and lots and give you cake :D We need two walks and a feed on Saturday and one or two walks and a feed on Sunday.

So the traffic was mental this morning on Fountainbridge - I was going down the inside of a line of cars and someone let another car through to turn right from the other side, straight into me :( Thankfully she wasn't going all that fast. I wasn't knocked out or anything, just landed with my legs tangles under the bike. I must have hit my face on something, possibly the bike, but I didn't even know I was bleeding til someone asked me where I was bleeding from! I was mostly concerned with my leg because I thought it was broken at first I got an ambulance complete with cute ambulance man to take me to ERI after a chat with the police. I've got stitches in my chin (maybe 5 but I'm not sure til I take the bandage off) and my leg is a bit buggered, but mostly just bruises and a few grazes.

Wifi on the train wins, once again.

The train announcer loses though. He's jsut told us to "take care if leaving the train at the next station, as the platform is too long for the train." FAIL

In other news, I have that rare feeling of actually having gotten through a decent amount of work today. Go me ;) Standard rule of a PhD seems to be you never feel you've done anything at all. Suddenly the work left seems manageable rather than infinite, how odd.

I'm rather cheerful for only having left for at half 6 on a Friday!

Indy decided she was being neglected in favour of the sick one so vomited on the dog bed this morning. They are now both feeling sorry for themselves.

Boo, Fudge has kennel cough. Poor dog sounds like a foghorn. Here's hoping Indy doesn't get it too.

I must be mad.
Took the dogs on an 8 mile walk today: along the canal to the Water of Leith and then along the river to Canonmills; back home via town to pick up some treats and a luxurious great dane-sized dog bed which they're both now passed out on. It was fun, despite minor blisters and knackeredness.
I'm still constantly impressed by the amount of greenery and solitude to be found in the centre of Edinburgh. Oh and Dean village is really lovely, I'd never been before. Ooh and I saw a heron.
